Prosecutor says sounds on neighbor’s DVD were consensual sex, not rape

This is the story about a guy who thought a woman was being raped in a neighboring apartment. Having no phone, he grabbed a sword, a family heirloom, and stormed the apartment, only to find the neighbor was alone. Evidently the neighbor had been watching a porn DVD a bit loud.

How was this stupid, you ask? It isn’t, at face value. A mistake was made but he acted like an upstanding citizen risking his own safety to defend someone in distress, which is becoming quite rare these days. But soon this came out…

But if Van Iveren was attempting to rescue what he thought was a woman in danger he was “obnoxiously late,” said Stieghorst, who said he watched the movie between 1 and 2:30 a.m., but Van Iveren did not burst into his apartment until about 11:30 a.m.

Ok, yeah, um… he’s just an idiot. I’m not quite sure how he’s going to justify the 9 hours it took him to act on his suspicions, but that there is dumbassery.

I do like how candid Stieghorst is about his porn watching habits and preferences in this story and in other coverage that’s out there. That’s something to be proud of. He is certainly honest, too bad he’s too young to run for president in ’08, he’d have my vote.
